Indian Utensils Exhibition

What Mokomeshi can bring back from India are not hand-made crafts, nor are they souvenirs. They are items that were made for daily use by the people of India, and they are items that will become necessary in the daily life of the Japanese people. They are not items that sit on our shelves to be gazed at, but they will be stored in our top drawers to await daily use. The rim of the glass that is a bit deformed, the iron handle that is curved, or the seam of the cast metal that had been left not sanded; these imperfections of the items remind us that somebody somewhere are making them. We take these things for granted but the items remind us that they are indeed made by somebody’s daily life.
